Map of Bluefields

Here's a map of Bluefields. We're not exactly sure where our house is located (there are no marked streets), but the Verbo School and Church can both be found: First make sure the map is on Satellite mode, then find the yellow line around Bluefields, the school and church are a bit West of the North section of town.

We're here!

After a journey of more 12 hours, we are here (all 10 of us)! We had some ups (Michael got bumped to first class) and some downs (most of us have been awake for more than 30 hours), but we're safe, sound and ready to get to work.

Less than 24 hours to go! (6/9/11)

The title really says it all, in less than 24 hours we will be on our way. To get to the airport with enough time to check bags and go through security, we are meeting at our church at 2:45am; that means we really only have about 19 more hours. Personally, I've been so busy this week, I haven't had much time to think about the trip, but now things have finally sunk in.

Nicaragua here we come!

T minus 3 days

At 6am Friday morning, the 10 of us will fly out of Dulles Airport (outside of Washington DC), first flying to Miami, then Managua and finally arriving in Bluefields, Nicaragua.

Nicaragua has a great need; until the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, Nicaragua was considered by the World Bank to be the poorest country in the world, it's now the second poorest with half of Nicaraguans living on less than a dollar a day (for the Atlantic Coast, ie. Bluefields the number is closer to 75% of the population) [http://www.cepadusa.org].

[Ps. It's not easy to update a Blogger on the iPhone.]
